About Kinsmen

From a single dream in Hamilton, Ontario, to a thriving national network reaching all corners of Canada, the Kinsmen story is one of service, fellowship, and a deep commitment to community. Here in Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador, we proudly carry that torch, blending tradition with the vibrant spirit of the West Coast.
Kin Canada—originally the Kinsmen and Kinettes—was founded in 1920 by Harold A. Rogers. Inspired by a vision of Canadians helping Canadians, Rogers brought together like-minded individuals who believed that “Serving the Community’s Greatest Need” could change lives. Over the past century, Kin Canada has grown into the nation’s largest all-Canadian service organization, with more than 5,000 members in over 500 clubs from coast to coast.
The legacy of Kin Canada is not just measured in numbers but in impact. Collectively, members have contributed over $1 billion to local projects, ranging from building community centres and playgrounds to funding healthcare initiatives. Kin clubs have been instrumental in national campaigns, including raising millions for Cystic Fibrosis research, funding youth bursaries, and supporting programs that empower young leaders. Every dollar raised and every hour volunteered is a testament to the Kin motto in action: neighbors helping neighbors, communities lifting each other higher.
Our own chapter, the Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook, has been part of this national story since 1953. For more than 70 years, we’ve been woven into the fabric of this community, playing an active role in shaping the growth and spirit of Newfoundland’s west coast. Over the decades, we’ve proudly contributed more than $3.8 million to projects, events, and causes that matter most to our neighbors.
Some of our most impactful projects include the development of the Kin Centre, a cornerstone for community gatherings and events; our support in establishing the second arena at the Civic Centre, ensuring future generations have space to play and grow; and, for more than 20 years, the successful operation of the Prince Edward Campground & RV Park—a place where families can reconnect with nature, enjoy the great outdoors, and create lifelong memories.
What We Do Today
While our projects and initiatives are wide-ranging, they’re all connected by a simple mission: to improve the lives of the people who call Corner Brook and its surrounding communities home. Today, the Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook continues to:
- Operate and maintain community facilities like the Kin Centre and Kinsmen Arena II, providing accessible spaces for recreation, sports, and celebrations.
- Support healthcare and education through donations, scholarships, and partnerships that uplift local families and future leaders.
- Host community events and conventions that bring people together, fostering a sense of pride and belonging across generations.
- Run the Prince Edward Campground & RV Park, blending nature, comfort, and community spirit into a destination that welcomes campers from near and far.

Our Spirit, Your Community
The heart of the Kinsmen movement lies in fellowship—ordinary people coming together to achieve extraordinary things. Here in Corner Brook, that means building a community where families thrive, visitors feel welcome, and future generations inherit a legacy of service and pride.
Whether you’re a camper joining us for a weekend adventure, a family attending one of our events, or a local resident enjoying the benefits of our projects, you’re part of the story we continue to write. The Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook is proud to serve, to lead, and to be a constant reminder that when people unite with purpose, communities grow stronger.
Together, we’re not just preserving tradition—we’re creating the future of community life in Newfoundland and beyond.
